About GHRP-6
GHRP-6 is a synthetic six-residue growth hormone-releasing peptide studied as a secretagogue and in ghrelin-related research. Experiments in rat pituitary cells show that it can stimulate GH release through secretagogue signaling, and human research has also examined appetite-related responses. The evidence comes from defined laboratory or experimental conditions and leaves long-term effects and clinical relevance uncertain. GHRP-6 is investigational, not an approved medicine.
At a glance
- Class
- Synthetic hexapeptide in the GHRP family.
- Studied mechanism
- Acts as a growth hormone secretagogue through ghrelin-receptor-related signaling; rat pituitary-cell work found a pathway shared with GHRP-2.
- Evidence context
- Evidence includes comparative rat-cell experiments and experimental research on appetite; these settings do not establish long-term human outcomes.
Blank arithmetic calculator
For independently verified inputs, concentration equals entered vial amount in mg divided by added liquid in mL. Entered requested mg divided by concentration gives mL; multiplying mL by the actual syringe markings per mL gives units. Enable JavaScript to use the calculator. This math does not establish that a compound is suitable for injection.
Common questions
Is GHRP-6 a peptide or a small-molecule mimetic?
GHRP-6 is a synthetic peptide consisting of six amino acids. It differs in molecular class from MK-677, which is a non-peptide small molecule.
What did comparisons of GHRP-6 and GHRP-2 find?
In rat pituitary cells, both peptides stimulated GH release via the same receptor mechanism and worked synergistically with growth hormone-releasing factor. This laboratory result is not proof of equivalent effects in people.
