About Sermorelin
Sermorelin is a synthetic 29-amino-acid fragment corresponding to the biologically active N-terminal portion of human growth-hormone-releasing hormone. It binds the pituitary GHRH receptor and has been studied both for diagnostic assessment of GH secretion and in growth-hormone-deficiency contexts. Unlike many research-only compounds, sermorelin acetate had FDA-approved Geref products; those products are discontinued, and the FDA records their withdrawal as unrelated to safety or effectiveness. Current compounded formulations are not FDA-approved products.
At a glance
- Class
- Synthetic GHRH(1–29) peptide analog; it is not growth hormone itself.
- Studied mechanism
- Activates pituitary GHRH receptors, prompting endogenous GH secretion.
- Regulatory context
- Geref sermorelin products were FDA-approved and later discontinued; FDA states they were not withdrawn for safety or effectiveness reasons.
Blank arithmetic calculator
For independently verified inputs, concentration equals entered vial amount in mg divided by added liquid in mL. Entered requested mg divided by concentration gives mL; multiplying mL by the actual syringe markings per mL gives units. Enable JavaScript to use the calculator. This math does not establish that a compound is suitable for injection.
Common questions
Is sermorelin the same substance as growth hormone?
No. Sermorelin is a GHRH fragment analog that signals the pituitary to release endogenous growth hormone; it is not GH.
Has sermorelin ever been FDA-approved?
Yes. FDA records show prior approval of Geref sermorelin acetate products, which are now discontinued. The FDA determined they were not withdrawn for reasons of safety or effectiveness.
