About Ipamorelin
Ipamorelin is a synthetic five-amino-acid growth-hormone secretagogue peptide. Pharmacology studies describe it as acting through the growth-hormone secretagogue receptor system to stimulate pituitary growth-hormone release, rather than mimicking growth-hormone-releasing hormone at its own receptor. Its selectivity was initially characterized in laboratory and animal experiments. Although the compound has also been examined clinically in other contexts, that history does not establish it as an approved treatment for growth-hormone deficiency or general use.
At a glance
- Class
- Synthetic pentapeptide in the growth-hormone-releasing peptide (GHRP) / secretagogue group.
- Studied mechanism
- Activates the ghrelin / growth-hormone secretagogue receptor pathway to promote pituitary GH release.
- Evidence context
- Its defining selectivity was reported in preclinical pharmacology; it is not an FDA-approved GH-deficiency medicine.
Blank arithmetic calculator
For independently verified inputs, concentration equals entered vial amount in mg divided by added liquid in mL. Entered requested mg divided by concentration gives mL; multiplying mL by the actual syringe markings per mL gives units. Enable JavaScript to use the calculator. This math does not establish that a compound is suitable for injection.
Common questions
How does ipamorelin differ from sermorelin?
Ipamorelin is a GHRP-type secretagogue acting through the ghrelin/GHS receptor pathway. Sermorelin is a fragment analog of GHRH and acts at the GHRH receptor.
Does research establish ipamorelin as an approved growth-hormone-deficiency treatment?
No. Published pharmacology and clinical investigation are not the same as regulatory approval; ipamorelin is not an FDA-approved treatment for growth-hormone deficiency.
