Unit converter
U-100 syringe units to mL converter
This converter assumes a U-100 scale: 100 marked units correspond to 1 mL. It converts scale markings and volume only. U-100 marked units are not biological international units (IU), and this tool does not recommend an amount or establish a syringe's capacity. All examples are synthetic math examples, not instructions.

U-100 marked units to mL
Reversing clears the input so a number is never reinterpreted.
U-100 marked unitsEnter a value in U-100 marked units to see mL. Zero is allowed.
U-100 scale only (100 marked units per mL). Not for U-40 or other scales, and not a conversion of biological international units.
A scale conversion, not a dose conversion
U-100 describes a volume scale with 100 marked units per milliliter. Divide a U-100 marking by 100 to calculate the corresponding volume in mL; multiply a volume in mL by 100 to express it as a U-100 marking.
Synthetic example (not instructions): 25 U-100 marked units ÷ 100 marked units/mL = 0.25 mL. The scale marking expresses volume on that scale, not a mass or an amount of a substance.
mL = U-100 marked units ÷ 100; U-100 marked units = mL × 100
Marked units are not biological international units
The word “unit” can refer to different things. Here it means a graduation on a U-100 volume scale. A biological international unit (IU) expresses biological activity as defined for a particular substance; it is not a milliliter marking and cannot be converted by this scale formula.
This converter performs no biological-activity conversion and does not determine how much material is present in a volume. That would require other independently established information and is outside this tool's scope.
Scale is different from barrel capacity
The U-100 relationship stays 100 marked units per mL regardless of whether a particular barrel has a smaller or larger maximum capacity. Capacity is the maximum volume the barrel is designed to hold; it does not change the scale's units-per-mL factor.
Synthetic example (not instructions): on a U-100 scale, a barrel marked to a maximum of 30 units corresponds nominally to 0.30 mL, while a maximum of 50 units corresponds nominally to 0.50 mL. These examples describe capacity arithmetic, not a fill target.
volume at maximum = maximum U-100 marked units ÷ 100 marked units/mL
Check the actual scale before interpreting a value
This converter supports U-100 only. U-40 uses a different scale relationship and is unsupported here; do not use a U-100 result as though it applied to U-40. Check the scale designation on the relevant item rather than inferring it from a barrel's maximum number.
A volume conversion alone does not establish a concentration or a mass. For example, a value in mL cannot be interpreted as mg unless a separately known mass-per-volume concentration is available.
Questions
- Does this also work for U-40?
- No. U-40 has a different marked-units-per-mL scale. This converter assumes U-100 only and does not support U-40.
- Are U-100 markings the same as biological IU?
- No. U-100 markings are graduations on a volume scale. Biological international units describe activity defined for a substance. This converter does not convert between them.
- Does a 30-unit or 50-unit capacity change the U-100 scale?
- No. Those numbers describe the maximum marked capacity of a barrel. A U-100 scale remains 100 marked units per mL; nominal capacities are 0.30 mL and 0.50 mL, respectively.
