About IGF-1 LR3
IGF-1 LR3, also called Long R3 IGF-I, is a laboratory-designed analogue of insulin-like growth factor I. It differs from native IGF-I through an arginine substitution and an added N-terminal sequence, modifications that reduce its binding to IGF-binding proteins in experimental systems. Researchers use it to examine IGF signaling and biological activity, but much of the evidence is biochemical or preclinical. It is not an approved medicine, and experimental findings do not define effects in humans.
At a glance
- Class
- Engineered IGF-I analogue with an arginine substitution at position 3 and a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension.
- Studied mechanism
- Its structural changes substantially reduce affinity for IGF-binding proteins, altering the amount of unbound IGF-like ligand in experimental systems.
- Evidence context
- Peer-reviewed research examines binding properties and animal or laboratory models; this does not establish a clinical role in humans.
Blank arithmetic calculator
For independently verified inputs, concentration equals entered vial amount in mg divided by added liquid in mL. Entered requested mg divided by concentration gives mL; multiplying mL by the actual syringe markings per mL gives units. Enable JavaScript to use the calculator. This math does not establish that a compound is suitable for injection.
Common questions
What makes IGF-1 LR3 different from native IGF-I?
It has an arginine in place of glutamate at position 3 and an added 13-amino-acid sequence at its N-terminus. These changes reduce binding to IGF-binding proteins compared with native IGF-I.
Is IGF-1 LR3 an approved drug?
No approved human medicine is established by the cited research for IGF-1 LR3. Published work is primarily biochemical and preclinical, so human effects and clinical value remain uncertain.
